Brazilian guitar: Styles and Rhythms

Guitarist Luis Leite will present some of the styles and rhythms of Brazilian music. 
Samba, baião, frevo and chôro will be explained and broken down into a comprehensive understanding with live demonstrations and musical examples.
He will also guide through the styles of legendary Brazilian guitarists, such as Garoto, Baden Powell, Raphael Rabello and Yamandu Costa. 

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Luis Leite studied at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana (Siena, Italy), at the University of Music in Vienna (Bachelor and Master), and holds a doctorate degree (PhD) on musical improvisation from the University of Rio de Janeiro. Since 2009 he is the Chair of the Guitar Program at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (Brazil), where he developed a new hybrid program mixing classical and jazz studies. As an artist, Luis has an intense international activity, having already performed in more than 20 countries, where he performed as a soloist in festivals and theaters all over the world. He also often collaborates with Brazilian artists such as Yamandu Costa, Hamilton de Holanda, Mônica Salmaso, among others.
