  • Senior Lecturer since 2000 at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz/Jazzinstitut as well as at the Institute for Music Education

  • Independent artistic activity as pianist, accordionist and composer/arranger, several record productions under his own name (Stefan Heckel Group)
  • Collaboration with Otto Lechner & Wiener Zieharmoniker, Nenad Vasilic Balkan Band, Irina Karamarkovic Sounds From Kosovo, Styrian Improvisers Orchestra, Max Brand Ensemble
  • Senior Lecturer since 2000 at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts Graz/Jazzinstitut and Institute for Music Education
  • Working Group Member in the AEC PJP-Platform, from 2012-2017 chair
  • Member of the Diversity&Identity Working Group in the AEC project Strengthening Music in Society (SMS)
  • Performances at festivals: Sounding Jerusalem (IL), Pablo Casals (F), Boswiler Sommer (CH), Wiener Akkordeonfestival, Jazzfetival Beograd (SRB)
  • Theater music for Komödienspiele Porcia, Next Liberty Children and Youth Theater Graz, Dschungel Vienna, Tanzhotel Vienna
  • Collaboration as improviser in the project Mimic (Meaningful Music in Health Care) at AKH Vienna
