Austrian cellist and cultural manager Martin Rummel becomes managing director of the JAM MUSIC LAB GmbH
The Austrian cellist and cultural manager Martin Rummel becomes managing director of the JAM MUSIC LAB GmbH and, together with Marcus Ratka, will in future lead the supporting organization of the JAM MUSIC LAB Private University for Jazz and Popular Music Vienna and the International Academy for Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
With almost 60 albums on international labels, including Capriccio and Naxos, and worldwide concert experience as a soloist and chamber musician, Martin Rummel is one of the leading cellists of his generation. After years of teaching at institutions in Germany and New Zealand, he was Head of School at the School of Music at the University of Auckland from 2016 to 2020, where he led a comprehensive transformation of the entire teaching program. As cultural manager he has been the director of various festivals and is the owner of paladino media gmbh, whose portfolio includes the contemporary music label KAIROS.
