"But love is greater than fear …"

The JAM LAB Private University and the International Academy of Music and Performing Arts mourn the loss of Susan Blanarik Steiner.

Susan studied jazz vocals and arrangement at the Gustav Mahler Konservatorium and later jazz piano at the JAM MUSIC LAB Conservatory. While these multi-faceted skills made her a much sought-after pedagogue, she will be remembered as a unique human being. Her involvement contributed to the successful accreditation of the University, from the early stages of planning to the evolution of the teaching activities. As Head of Department, Susan combined diligent administration with a deep understanding for the needs of students and teachers.

Her positive attitude made a big impact – no question or problem remained unanswered or unheard. Susan’s colleagues valued her open, joie-de-vivre way of life and her sense of humor. Her students, always receiving assistance and generosity from her, were family for her. Her unextinguishable confidence that any problem could be solved brought her the students’ nomination as their ombudsperson – a position that she was not to start.

“We carry your voice in our heads and your laughter in our hearts, we sing your songs. We will remember you as unforgettable and unique, and we will miss you greatly, however present you will remain with every note.” (Your students at the JAM LAB Private University and the International Academy of Music and Performing Arts Vienna)

Susan’s big heart stopped beating on October 1st, 2020, at the age of only 45.
