6. INARJ / 1. SIG Conference on Artistic Research in Jazz and Popular Music, November 12.–14.11.2026

Following the call for contributions to the 6. INARJ/1. SIG Conference "Artistic Research, Music Technologies and Artificial Intelligence", the organizing conference committee has received a record number of proposals, which account for the relevancy and high quality of artistic research in jazz and popular music. After a careful review process, the committee invited 30 contributions which cover a broad range of topics and represent current trends in the field.

The conference is organized by SAR Special Interest Group Artistic Research in Jazz and Popular Music (est. 2026) which is based on and extends the activities of the International Network for Artistic Research in Jazz (INARJ, est. 2019). The networks were initiated in reaction to the increasing relevance of artistic research perspectives in the academic discourses in jazz studies. The SIG will continue to provide a platform for knowledge exchange and connection between artistic researchers worldwide by organizing regular conferences, projects and publications including the peer-reviewed ARJAZZ Journal for Artistic Research in Jazz via the Research Catalogue.
