Improvisation Beyond Stylistic Borders

This workshop is open to all students from Gulda School of Music & JAM MUSIC LAB University.

Renowned as a performer and composer of new, genre-busting music, Yamaha Performing Artist Rex Richardson has been called “One of the finest virtuosos of our time” (Brass Herald) “a standout soloist with the power, range and flexibility to rival Freddie Hubbard and Woody Shaw” (DownBeat), and “among the very best trumpet soloists in the world today” (Journal of the International Trumpet Guild).

A professor at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) since 2002, he has served as International Tutor in Trumpet at England’s Royal Northern College of Music and at Austria’s JAM MUSIC LAB Private University.

Der als Interpret und Komponist neuer, genreübergreifender Musik renommierte Yamaha Performing Artist Rex Richardson wurde als „einer der besten Virtuosen unserer Zeit“ (Brass Herald), als „herausragender Solist mit der Kraft, dem Tonumfang und der Flexibilität, die Freddie Hubbard und Woody Shaw ebenbürtig sind“ (DownBeat) sowie als „einer der weltweit besten Trompetensolisten der Gegenwart“ (Journal of the International Trumpet Guild) bezeichnet.

Seit 2002 ist er Professor an der Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). Zudem war er International Tutor für Trompete am Royal Northern College of Music in England sowie an der JAM MUSIC LAB Privatuniversität in Österreich.
