First Michael Brecker International Saxophone Competition

It was JAM MUSIC LAB´s big pleasure and honor to be part of this wonderful event in memory of the great Michael Brecker at the Red Sea Jazz Festival in Eilat, Israel. 

Many thanks to Susan Brecker, Darryl Pitt, Jeffrey Levenson and their teams for making all this possible and for inviting us. Congrats to the winners Alex Hahn (1st prize), Alex Weitz (2nd prize) and Artem Badenko (3rd prize) and to all other artists in the circle of the best 8 candidates of the competition: Daniel Varga, Niall Cade, Sheridan Hitchcock, Nathan Bellott and Sean Payne. 

Marcus Ratka was part of the panel of judges together with Dan Gottfried, Marquis Hill, Donny McCaslin, Ron Carter, Eli Degibri and Kenny Garrett.

Winner Alex Hahn will be invited to the Jazz Festival in Vienna Jazz Fest Wien in 2020 and will perform with JAM MUSIC LAB University Artists
