Virtual conversation between Wynton Marsalis & Thomas Gansch from Sun 28 Feb, 2021

To the point "Jazz": The outstanding trumpeters Thomas Gansch and Wynton Marsalis, nine-time Grammy Award winner and artistic director of Jazz at Lincoln Center, meet to talk online.

Wynton Marsalis is convinced that "art, and jazz in particular, can improve lives, and do so in the long run." With the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, which he co-founded in 1991, he wants to lift the improvised music of earlier generations onto the main stage of American culture, "to bring the feeling of jazz out into the world."

In this entertaining conversation, Marsalis tells his friend and colleague Thomas Gansch how he combines the facets of classical music-making and jazz, and how he manages to keep his courage in the current pandemic crisis.
