A new music university at the Gasometer Music City site.

The gasometers were the central energy suppliers of the monarchy in Vienna at the dawn of the 20th century. Today, they are once again supplying energy: but now in the form of education, art and music.

With the accreditation of JAM MUSIC LAB as a private university in 2017, Gasometer Music City has become a new university location in Vienna.

The JAM MUSIC LAB Private University for Jazz and Popular Music is a worldwide unique university for the music forms of the present. It was created by musicians for musicians: with a lot of enthusiasm, idealism, luck and skill, the step from a small school project in a basement pub to a state-accredited new music university in Vienna was successfully taken. Despite its young history, it has already been able to set accents far beyond the country's borders.

The JAM MUSIC LAB offers its students a professional education in line with today's professional reality for music makers and music teachers. The university operates at the interfaces between popular and electronic music in the most diverse styles of popular music: pop, rock, jazz, folk, world music, electronic music, film music and media music.

Music as a universal language

Research and teaching at the university are in the light of a diversely networked world, its modes of production and distribution through modern media technology, and its impact on art, science and business.

Music as a universal language shows how opposites can be formed into a constructive and fascinating whole. Austrian music universities are among the best in the world. Their artists make a valuable contribution to our culture and society, a contribution that reaches far beyond the boundaries of the purely musical, that puts the unifying before the dividing!

Support the future of young artists!

Starting with a donation of €8,500 p.a. (financing a study place for one year) you will receive a symbolic building block of the university. The building block carries bronze, silver, gold or platinum status depending on the amount of your donation. Furthermore, we will publish information about you or your company on the university's homepage.

Your donation is tax deductible.

As a private university, we are not only available to wealthy students, but would like to make it possible for many talented young people who do not have sufficient financial means to study their music at JMLU. This is why we need your help. We invest your donation in gifted scholarships for financially disadvantaged students (up to 100% of the tuition fee) as well as in research and teaching.
