Music in the Woods – What It's About
Music in the Woods aims to promote Austrian music creation in the areas of songwriting, music production, film scoring, and game audio. By combining practice and theory under the guidance of well-known national and international music producers, Music in the Woods offers a unique opportunity for talents to hone their skills and establish themselves in the media music industry. With follow-up projects after the event at JAM MUSIC LAB Private University, the entry into the music market is facilitated.
30 scholarships selected by a renowned jury
A renowned jury selects 30 participants from a total of more than 100 applications. The workshop is led by Oliver Schmellenkamp, producer in the field of film and games music and head of the media music department at JAM MUSIC LAB Private University, and Michael Klimas, singer and producer of Söhne Mannheims. He is also a lecturer at the JAM MUSIC LAB Private University. During their stay, the participants receive valuable input from experts in the industry (including Grammy winner Georg Luksch, teacher, Grammy-recognised producer, manager, educator and journalist in the field of jazz and pop Jeffrey Levenson, Hollywood producer Paul Haslinger, and many more) in person or digitally, and they are also able to continue working on their own projects alone and in collaboration with their colleagues in free creative phases. The lecturers on site were there to support them at all times.
Impressive musical talents in Gutenbrunn
On the last evening, the talents present their outstanding results from the previous days at Bühnenwirtshaus Juster. Singers touch the audience with great pieces of their own, composers provide goosebumps and film scorers pack the portion epically into their soundtracks. Before and after the performances, participants are able to network with guests from the worlds of politics, art and culture. We wish each and every participant to take away a lot from these days and the greatest possible success in the realisation of their future projects.
