Experiences of Dex Zanger at Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program Songwriting Camp in Sicily

As part of the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP), JAM student Dex Zanger participated in the international Songwriting Camp held in Piazza Armerina, Sicily, in early July 2026. Together with students from partner institutions across Europe, he spent a week collaborating on original songs while exchanging ideas and experiences with fellow young musicians.

From the first day of the programme, Dex joined an international songwriting team, where the group developed an original composition, expanded the lyrics, and created initial recordings. Throughout the week, the participants focused on songwriting, rehearsals in professional rehearsal spaces, and preparing their music for live performance.

The programme also included a vocal workshop with Margherita Flore, during which participants rehearsed a special arrangement for a sunrise concert. Beyond the artistic work, the camp offered many opportunities for intercultural exchange, including shared meals and a visit to the Between Festival.

The week concluded with a final concert in Piazza Armerina, where the newly created songs were performed for the public. The Erasmus+ Songwriting Camp provided an inspiring international learning experience, fostering creativity, collaboration, and lasting connections across borders.
