Peter Erskine & the JAM MUSIC LAB Allstars präsentieren "Vienna to Hollywood" im Porgy & Bess

Der großartige Schlagzeuger kommt mit den JAM MUSIC LAB All Stars, bestehend aus Lehrenden, sowie Studierenden und lumnid der JAM ins Porgy and Bess zu einem Konzert der Extraklasse. Sie präsentieren das Album "Vienna to Hollywood". Darauf gibt es Filmsoundtrack-Klassiker von Erich Korngoold und Max Steiner im völlig neuen und jazzigen Gewand.

Korngold und Steiner haben als klassisch ausgebildete Komponisten die Ära des Tonfilms in Hollywood mitbegründet und früh Maßstäbe für mehrere Generationen gesetzt. Sie haben mit Filmmusiken wie etwa zu "Casablanca", "Vom Winde verweht" und "King Kong" das Publikum weltweit in Begeisterung versetzt. Beim Konzert im Porgy & Bess gibt es diese und weitere Scores neu arrangiert und mit großartigen Jazz-Arangements in ein Klangbild gesetzt, dass es so noch nicht gegeben hat! Die Neu-Produktion dieser Stücke ist das Herzstück eines Forschungsprojekts der Universität. Mit der Live-Performance des Albums folgt ein weiterer Meilenstein.

Durch die Mitwirkung von herausragenden JAM-Studenten und Preisträgern wie die Ö1 Stipendiums Preisträger Andreas Varady oder Roobert Unterköfler am Tenorsaxophon an der Gitarre, Tatjana Gomez und Fabricio Fuentes Pereira am Bass die Jam-Lehrenden Bertl Mayer an der Harmonika und Danny Grissett, geigen an diesem Abend großartige Musiker:innen aus unserer JAM-Community auf.

Die Kombination aus Jazz und Filmmusik, umgesetzt mit der Expertise der Künstler, schafft ein einzigartiges Klangbild. Durch diesen den kreativen Beitrag entsteht ein Hörerlebnis, das in Erinnerung bleibt. 

The great drummer is coming to Porgy & Bess with the JAM MUSIC LAB All Stars, a group consisting of faculty members, students, and alumni of JAM, for a top-class concert. They will present the album, Vienna to Hollywood which features classic film soundtracks by Erich Korngold and Max Steiner in an entirely new and jazzy style.

Korngold and Steiner, both classically trained composers, were pioneers of Hollywood’s sound film era, setting standards that influenced generations. Their film scores for Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, and King Kong have captivated audiences worldwide. At the Porgy & Bess concert, these and other scores will be reimagined with stunning jazz arrangements, creating a soundscape like never before! The re-production of these pieces is the centerpiece of a university research project, and performing the album live marks another milestone in this endeavor.

Outstanding JAM students and award winners will take part, including Ö1 scholarship recipient Andreas Varady on guitar and Robert Unterköfler on tenor saxophone. Also performing are Tatjana Gomez and Fabricio Fuentes Pereira on bass, JAM faculty members Bertl Mayer on harmonica, Flip Philip on vibraphone, and Danny Grissett on piano. This evening will showcase incredible musicians from the JAM community.

The fusion of jazz and film music, brought to life with the expertise of these artists, creates a unique sound experience. This creative contribution results in a listening experience that will be remembered.
