5th INARJ Conference at Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel (KCB)
From the 25th to the 27th of February 2026, the fifth edition of the International Network for Artistic Research in Jazz (INARJ) was held at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel (KCB). Around twenty researchers, artists and musicians from around the world were present, both online and in-person, in Brussels to discuss the conference theme Places and Spaces. An invitation to reflect on the future of jazz, both in practice and in research. INARJ was founded at JAM MUSIC LAB Private University for Jazz and Popular Music in 2019. JMLU was represented at the conference by INARJ founder Univ.-Prof. Dr. Michael Kahr and vice rector Univ.-Prof. Dr. Monika Herzig.
