Wolfgang Lamprecht

Dr. Wolfgang Lamprecht received his master’s degree (Jazzkritik in Österreich; Chronik, Dokumentationen, Stellungnahmen. Ein Beitrag zur Popmusikforschung in den Cultural Studies) and his doctorate (Schaffe vertrauen, reden darüber und verdiene daran. Kommunikationspraxis und Performance Measurement von Corporate Cultural Responsibility) in journalism and communication studies, as well as theater and musicology at the University of Vienna. He also studied saxophone at the Bruckner Conservatory Linz (now Bruckner University), the Vienna Academy of Music, the Vienna Art Institute and Leo Nash Wright.

He has been external Head of Corporate Communication at the Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien since 2000 and a university lecturer for cultural communication at the Institute for Journalism and Communication Studies at the University of Vienna since 2017. Lamprecht has also headed the Bank Austria Salon cultural and communication platform at Vienna's Old City Hall since 2014. Through consulting contracts with leisure communication Kommunikationsagentur GmbH, of which Lamprecht is a 50 percent founding co-owner, he also advises UniCredit Bank Austria AG as part of its corporate cultural responsibility commitment as well as the Austrian Music Theater Prize.
Management experience as managing director of the IT company European Communication Systems GmbH in Vienna and as a member of the supervisory board of European Communication Systems AG in Frankfurt (1997 - 1999), as a partner of Scholdan & Company (1992 - 1999) and as an entrepreneur of several service companies in the creative industries. Prior to that, he worked as a journalist for AZ, Standard, Die Presse, Musikzeitung, Die Bühne, Festspielemagazin, FAZ and ORF, among others.

His academic work, documented in numerous publications, lectures and teaching assignments, is located at the interface of economics, media, culture and the public sphere: Lamprecht is particularly concerned here with the visual arts, historical jazz and popular music research, corporate citizenship, corporate cultural responsibility in the context of CSR and trust communication, key figures for cultural financial management and alternative cultural financing.
Lamprecht was and is a juror for several prizes and advisor to several major Austrian cultural institutions, including JazzFest Wien and Österreichische Bundestheaterholding (2000-2004), Joe Zawinul's Birdland (2003 - 2008) and Verein Klangräume (since 2022), he was Executive Director of the Academy of Classical Music and Arts under Sir Georg Solti (1991 - 1996), and he is a member of the Austrian Jazz Prize Academy (since 2024), advisory board and board member of several societies and cultural associations (e.g. Vienna Music Society), and since 2017 member of the University Council of the JAM Music Lab Private University Vienna.

since 2021: Founding member of IGFM - Institute for Global and Future Markets (association for basic research on digitized communication and digitized means of distribution for the promotion and mediation of economic science in global and future markets), since 2023 advisory board.
