High-Level Delegation from Sichuan Conservatory of Music visits JAM MUSIC LAB Private University in Vienna

JAM MUSIC LAB Private University in Vienna recently welcomed a distinguished delegation from the Sichuan Conservatory of Music in Chengdu, China, to discuss potential academic and artistic collaborations. The visiting delegation included four senior representatives from the Sichuan Conservatory:

  1. Prof. Yan WANG, Vice-President and Professor of Piano
  2. Prof. Xi CHEN, Director of the International Affairs Office and Professor of Arts Management
  3. Prof. Bao XU, Director of the Accordion and Modern Instruments Department and Professor of Classical Guitar
  4. Prof. Shibin SONG, Vice-Director of the Orchestral Department and Professor of Bassoon

The delegation was received by key members of the JAM University leadership: Marcus Ratka (Rector), Monika Herzig (Vice-Rector), Oliver Schmellenkamp (Head of Media Music), and Roland Freisitzer (Dean of Studies). Also present was Ernest Bittner, Director of Bechstein Austria, representing the institution’s close ties to the instrument manufacturing industry.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formally signed during the visit, laying the groundwork for a strategic partnership between the two institutions. Special emphasis was placed on Sichuan Conservatory’s expertise in Popular Music and Piano Technology, which align closely with JAM's focus areas in JazzPopular and Media Music (including film music, computer games, and artificial intelligence applications) and Arts Management. 

This agreement marks a significant step towards the development of joint educational programs, faculty exchanges, and collaborative research projects, underscoring the global reach and innovative spirit of both institutions.
